Safety Audits

  • At Champion DMV, the safety of your drivers and every community in which they operate is one of our primary concerns. Safety and risk management are integrated in our safety audit programs to ensure that your business remains 100% compliant with new rules and regulations.

  • What are Safety Audits?

DOT regulations require that all commercial vehicles weighing 10,001 lbs. or more, transporting 8 passengers or more for compensation, transporting 16 passengers or more without compensation, or transporting hazardous materials must undergo safety audits.

The first thing that an auditor wants to see is you have a system in place that keeps you in compliance with DOT regulations. Our simple but effective system helps you organize all the information you need to help you successfully pass your safety audit.

Safety audits review all of your compliance activities to check if you are adhering to all DOT regulations. IRP Services offers a no-hassle, affordable and customizable Audit Assurance program that includes Drug and Alcohol Testing.

  • What is a DOT New Entrant Safety Audit?

Within one year after you receive your Motor Carrier Authority, the DOT will call or mail you a notice instructing you to schedule a New Entrant Safety Audit. Make sure you don’t ignore the notice – this is an important audit and it won’t go away. Call us first so we can start reviewing your information to ensure you are adequately prepared then call the DOT to schedule the DOT.

Our compliance experts provide support before and after the New Entrant Safety Audit, which all motor carriers have to cross. As of October 1, 2013, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) revised the rules to make the New Entrant Safety Audit occur earlier. Motor carriers must undergo a New Entrant Safety Audit within 12 months of registering with the DOT, while passenger carriers have to complete it within 120 days of registering with the DOT.

During the audit the DOT will meet with you to review your company safety files and records. The New Entrant Safety Audit usually lasts anywhere from one to four hours.
